Susan Barth Confirms March 23rd Release For Latest CD
Clever songwriting and arrangement, catchy hooks and well laid out instrumental parts are a feature of this latest album from Susan Barth. The harmonies have been executed with taste. Each track on this album has its own charm. To sum up, the overall approach to Susan's songwriting is quite simple - The delivery of each song leaves the listener with a good feeling despite the actual theme. She delves into fantasy, real life characters and even indulges in some introspection. In other words, Susan draws you in with her songwriting charm.
Barth's songs cross musical genres, going from folk tunes like "Rainbows" to rock songs like "Perfect Storm, " even throwing in some pop, which keeps her listeners on their toes in anticipation of what's coming next. The instrumentation on "Songs From The Suburbs" have been effectively arranged to complement Susan's vocal style. Elements of Folk, Jazz, World, and Renaissance have been infused with her retro 70's pop style. As Susan aptly puts it "For better or worse, this album may be the most reflective of me as a person."
Susan's first three CDs captured the attention of the music industry, earning accolades. Her songs have landed in the finals in numerous songwriting contests, including the UK Songwriting Contest, Billboard Songwriting Contest and Unisong Song Contest. Susan was named Runner Up for Songwriter of the Year in 2006 and 2007 by DIY, one of the most respected indie artist networks, which also chose "Wonderland" as the 2005 Runner Up for Album of the Year. Susan has also been awarded 7 ASCAP Songwriting Merit Awards over the last few years. Her track "Perfect Storm" is expected to make the semi-finals for the Unisong 2009 contest.

New album “Songs From The Suburbs” Coming soon
UPDATE!
Hear "Songs From The Suburbs" here!I am almost ready to go to final mastering of the new album called "Songs From The Suburbs." I need to tweak one more song which is a late addition to this grouping. I will need to cut this to a reasonable length since I am up to 18 songs. I guess that's considered a quality problem.. These works were mostly recorded at JonesHouse Music (http://www.joneshousemusic.com) and produced and mixed by Dan Marfisi and Susan Barth (me). Some songs were re-mixed by Russel Pope and keyboard parts were added by Michael Sherwood. Cameron Stone played all the cello parts. Randy Mitchell added song guitar magic to the song Stay or Go. (http://www.akadakmusic.com/)
We have compiled most of the artwork and will be working with graphics artist Stacie Heyen to complete.the packaging. I am hoping to have advanced copies ready for the industry prior to the CD release party. Some photos included were taken by Lisa Margolis.
I am beginning to rehearse the band for the gig to kick off the CD release. The CD will released at the show on Oct 3rd at Molly Malones. I am very pleased to announce that this band are: Irene Garcia on Vocals. Danilo Arroyo on drums, Alberto Albis on bass, Jackson Allen and Santiago Granados on guitar(s). I am contemplating having a coupls of special guests joining us that evening...
This CD has been a long time coming and I have had a tremendous amount of help on this project. It is my hope that it will be as well received as Wonderland.....I would list the song list for you but...I and still deciding on which songs I want to leave for the following project.
Song Contests
PULSE RADIO, one of the big UK internet radio stations placed “Wonderland” in their Top Ten for over six months, spending 3 weeks at # 1
The UK Songwriting Contest, including Simon Cowell as a judge, picked "Wonderland" as a Semi-Finalist
DIY, one of the most respected indie artist networks named Susan as the 2006 Runner Up for Songwriter of the Year for the song "Wonderland and also picked her as 2005 Runner Up for Album of the Year for the Wonderland CD.
DIY again named Susan as 2007 Runner Up for Songwriter of the Year for "Stay or Go”
The annual Billboard Songwriting contest gave "Feel Like a Man" 2nd place and Honorable Mentions to two more songs, “Sundays”, “And Yet”.
ASCAP, the main songwriters society in the US has given her 7 Songwriting Merit Awards over the last few years, a peer group show of respect.
Susan has also been named a finalist by the Unisong Song Contest in 2005 for "Target at Christmas"
in 2007 for "And Yet" and again in 2008 for “ Chatsworth"
Mike Pinder's Song Wars 2009 gave her the Notable Songwriting Achievement for “Wonderland” and named her as a finalist for "Rainbows" and also for "And Yet" .
In addition "Almost Did It" made it onto NPR radio as a pick of the week and “Wonderland” was included on the Sounds Like Cafe Compilation CD in Australia (similar to Starbuck Hear music compilations)
